I found this small secret teahouse online and decided to try it out on my Birthday. They have a range of rooms that you can pick from, some very Moroccan inspired (pictured below) and others more elegantly decorated with plush armchairs with high backs and a modern and clean white color scheme. Elysian Tea House is one of the few places apart from hotel restaurants that serve mini french desserts a.k.a patisseries which are uniquely curated by the chef. We tried the lemon tart and a dark chocolate patisserie with praline. Both did not disappoint however, I personally felt that they weren't as 'original' or innovative as I had thought they would be. I am excited when the chef is able to push the boundaries of traditional french patisseries whilst still using traditional techniques but infusing modern and innovative flavors and flair.

They also boast their famous loose tea that they blend in house for each tea pot they serve. On each of the tables are baskets of cute little tea canisters for you to inhale the flavors and somewhat 'drink' the tea through your senses. Definitely helps when trying to select which tea to order!

We ordered the Elysian Iced Tea which was crushed watermelon with fresh Italian basil leaves, topped with black tea, dash of lime and lightly sweetened with jasmine syrup (red colored drink top left of the picture of the right). I could definitely taste the watermelon throughout however, the notes of jasmine were not pronounced enough to cut through the flavor of black tea. It was refreshing nonetheless, especially with the 38 degree weather outside. We then ordered one of their loose leaf teas, Effleurage, which means "To stroke one as you would a flower" in french, quite fitting for this very light lychee scented tea. It came with double walled tea cups that kept the tea cosily warm.
